SAN DIEGO, California (November 21, 2016) – The Child’s Primary School (TCPS) of San Diego, California, today announced that they are joining in on the largest learning event in history: The Hour of Code, during Computer Science Education Week (December 5-11).
The Hour of Code, organized by the nonprofit Code.org and over 100 others, is a global movement that believes the students of today are ready to learn critical skills for 21st century success

Computers are everywhere, changing every industry on the planet, but fewer than half of all schools teach computer science. Girls and minorities are severely underrepresented in computer science classes, and in the tech industry.

With the Hour of Code, computer science has been on homepages of Google, MSN, Yahoo! and Disney. Over 100 partners have joined together to support this movement. Every Apple Store in the world has hosted an Hour of Code and President Obama wrote his first line of code as part of the campaign.

At TCPS, we are using Hour of Code to build on the coding projects we have done all year in every grade. We have technical professionals from Qualcomm, Intuit, Ocean Aero, United States Navy, Scripps Institute of Oceanography, City of San Diego, Microsoft and other great organizations coming in participate in hands-on activities with our students and to give talks on the real-world applications of coding.

On Friday, December 9th from 2 pm to 3pm, we are inviting the community to attend our Hour of Code assembly at TCPS. Visitors can see the coding activities our students worked on during Hour of Code/Computer Science Education week and meet members of some of the fine organizations that are helping us. Please join us.

When: Friday, December 9, 2016 from 2 pm to 3 pm
Where: 3811 Mt. Acadia Blvd., San Diego, CA 92111
Contact: Jen Clark, Marketing Director, (858) 212-2808

December 17, 2015 — San Diego, CA — Pixite LLC announced today the release of Pigment 1.0 for iPhone and iPad. With built-in support for Apple Pencil, 3D touch, and a wide assortment of coloring tools, Pigment is the only coloring book app to support freehand coloring, and is the closest thing digitally to coloring on paper. Pigment also stands out with its hundreds of hand curated, professionally drawn illustrations, 8 different kinds of pencils, markers and brushes, and an unlimited number of colors to choose from.

Research has shown that coloring and doodling on paper have substantial therapeutic effects by lowering stress and anxiety, and improving relaxation and concentration. By allowing artists to color using strokes of their finger, Apple Pencil, or a third-party stylus, Pigment can offer those same therapeutic effects on the iPhone and iPad. In fact, Pigment is the only coloring book app that allows freehand coloring, while the rest of the apps are tap-to-fill.

By varying the strokes, the coloring tool, and tool characteristics, each piece of artwork takes a life of its own like never before. The size and opacity of the tools like the colored pencil can always be adjusted using the intuitive onscreen controls. 3D Touch enabled iPads and iPhones, and the iPad Pro with Apple Pencil take the controls to the next level by allowing the user to change the opacity using pressure. Using the Apple Pencil, the user can even control the shape of the tip by changing direction and tilt. The outcome is the most realistic coloring experience on a digital device.
Color selection is often a challenge for the coloring book artist, especially when there is an unlimited number of colors to choose from. Pigment’s innovative approach is 14 hand selected palettes of 9 colors, with a shade control for each. The palettes offer a cohesive combination of colors, a great starting point for anyone. In addition, by using Pigment’s shade control, artists are able to select any shade of any color in the palette instantly. Not only does the shade control save time in selecting similar colors, it lets the user access an unlimited number of colors in the simplest way possible.
Although coloring is often done to fulfill personal needs, Pigment also makes it easy to share work with friends and family. The available sharing options are email, SMS text, Facebook, and other social networks.

Pigment is a free app with an optional subscription to the Pigment Premium Access service, the key to the entire library of 200+ professionally drawn illustrations and updates to new books. Premium Access also unlocks the saving of non-watermarked, high-resolution images of artwork, up to 4096×4096 pixels.

Webpass has been a driving force in changing the Internet and they’ve recently expanded services to Mission Valley. Webpass entered the San Diego market in 2013, with the idea of making people rethink their Internet. They did this by designing a product that was better and less expensive than what competitors could provide, making Webpass one of San Diego’s newest disruptive innovators. Their business model has proven successful through the simplicity of set-up, absence of contracts, blazing fast speeds and personable customer service.

“We anticipate our first building will be turned on in late July. We look forward to sharing our services with the businesses and residents of Mission Valley”, stated Charles Barr, President of Webpass. They’ll be offering residential and business services with plans to initially focus on business as there has been strong demand the last several years in Mission Valley. Soon thereafter, they will deploy their residential service to multi-family buildings built after 1995 with 10 units or more.

SAN DIEGO (May 13, 2015) – Today, PIZICATO, the digital donation platform for musicians powered by fans, launched a mobile app for iOS. This app and technology is the first of its kind and unites the musician and fan through digital and social platforms, allowing users to directly impact the musician’s career path and quality of life. Music fans can now donate to any artist or band when they are most inspired to, whether it is at a concert or when they hear a new song for the first time. This innovative new app acts as a digital donation jar, empowering anyone to take a stand on sustaining the music industry instantly from the palm of their hand.

Currently, the app is equipped with a user-friendly search tool for fans to identify their favorite musician or band. Once a musician or band signs up they receive a unique QR code to freely use on their promotional and marketing materials. The QR code feature takes users to the musician’s PIZICATO profile page to make it even easier to donate and support. The app also has a flashlight to use when in dim venues or at night festivals and concerts. The platform works by using Facebook’s application programming interface (API) to connect the fan to the musician’s Facebook Page. This allows the fan to donate directly to the artist, band, or musician of their choice via PayPal. The donations are all tax-free to the artist, and the artist receives 82 percent of the donations made. The rest goes back to PIZICATO.com to cover PayPal fees and operational costs to ensure continued donating, thereby creating a more sustainable music industry.

“Being a lifelong music fan, I love how easy it has become to listen to my favorite music and discover new artists through online streaming sites; however, I am disappointed with how these changes have impacted the way artists are compensated. The launch of this app is a very important component to our business model because it enables fans to give back to music with a press of a button while they are in the moment at live shows,” explained Jeff Storm, longtime entrepreneur and co-founder of PIZICATO. “Music is such a personal, visceral experience and some of it resonates so deeply that I’d like to personally say thank you to the artists and share how they’ve impacted my life. We believe PIZICATO.com and our new app are effective ways to make a difference,” stated Jeano Erforth, co-founder of PIZICATO.

The digital platform and app are currently only optimized for donating to musicians and bands. Profile support is not yet available in the app, but musicians and fans can create an account at www.PIZICATO.com. The minimum donation is four dollars and artists are able to send a personalized note to their fans after receiving the donation, allowing for a deeper sense of community and connection.

For more information on how to sign up or to learn more, please visit: www.PIZICATO.com
or download the free app now in the App Store.
