SUMMARY:SD CTO Talks Presents: The Real Cost of AI-Driven Development
DESCRIPTION:AI is moving fast. But is faster always better? \n\n\n\n\nEngineering teams are embedding AI across their entire development lifecycle. The question: what happens when velocity outpaces understanding? \nThis month’s CTO Talks brings together two perspectives: one advocating for AI acceleration\, the other defending engineering rigor\, code ownership\, and long-term reliability. \nTess Chu\, Director at ServiceNow\, brings 20 years leading large-scale technology initiatives across consumer and enterprise sectors. Her expertise spans distributed systems\, infrastructure\, scalability\, and architecture. She’s built platforms that hold up under pressure and knows exactly what happens when they don’t. \nLarry Heminger\, CTO at Jabra Hearing\, brings 24 years of product and engineering leadership across software\, hardware\, and cloud. He scaled teams from startup to successful public exit at EcoATM and led AI modernization efforts at Calsense. Larry earned his BS in Computer Engineering from UC San Diego\, an executive MBA from USC\, and was a San Diego Top Tech award honoree in 2020. \nWhether you lead engineering teams or build products\, this conversation is for you. \nSee you on June 15!

SUMMARY:Breakfast with some San Diego Digital Designers
DESCRIPTION:Hello\, digital designers! Let’s get together again and welcome new (and familiar) faces in and around the SD digital design scene. \nThere are plenty of fancy design events\, this is meant to be a more casual\, personal\, and intimate meeting of designers. Introvert- and extrovert-friendly. Conversation\, not networking. \nPriority will be given to SDDD members (joining is easy — assuming you are in fact a digital designer in San Diego — and free at sddd.org). \nAgain\, this is totally casual. No agenda\, no presentation. Everyone pays for their own meal\, grabs a seat at the table\, and brings their friendly faces. Let’s chat about trends\, workplace issues\, design tools and approaches\, job opportunities\, and digital culture. \nHit up the chat here in Meetup — or in #events in Slack — with any questions at all. \nSee you there!

SUMMARY:San Diego AgTech Gathering - June 2026
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to the monthly San Diego AgTech Gathering\, a monthly community meetup. \nStart your morning with purpose and connection at the San Diego AgTech Gathering — a monthly meetup bringing together San Diego’s agriculture\, food\, and agtech communities at the future home of the Escondido AgX Hub on Quince Street. Whether you’re a grower\, technologist\, entrepreneur\, researcher\, or industry champion\, this is your space to gather\, sip\, and spark ideas. \nToo often\, technology and agriculture operate in parallel instead of together. This gathering will explore what it looks like when founders and farmers actually work side by side — sharing a featured conversation alongside open networking time. \nOur theme and guest speaker will be announced soon. Coffee provided. Good conversations guaranteed. \nThis meet-up is part of the broader vision behind Escondido AgX\, a collaborative ecosystem aimed at fostering innovation in agriculture\, food production\, and sustainability through community\, programming\, and place. \nCheck out highlights from the last AgX Gathering to get a taste of the energy. \nPlease reach out directly by email for a ticket fee waiver.

SUMMARY:VibeCraft Power Hour
DESCRIPTION:VibeCraft is a recurring\, collaborative working session where ideas turn into experiments and experiments turn into real builds. Each session is shaped by the group. We review what is emerging\, explore new directions\, and decide together what is worth building next. \nThis is not a presentation or a passive meetup. It is an active\, hands-on environment where members contribute ideas\, react to each other’s work\, and influence the direction of future sessions. Expect open discussion\, live demos\, shared whiteboards\, and practical exploration. \nSessions may include live walkthroughs of tools\, automations\, and AI agents\, discussions around product and company design\, rapid demos from members\, and breakdowns of different approaches to building with modern AI systems. Topics evolve over time\, but the focus remains the same: learning by doing\, building in public\, and exploring a high-tech\, high-touch future grounded in curiosity\, collaboration\, and thoughtful design. \nCome ready to participate\, share what you are building\, and help shape what we explore next as a VibeCraft community.

The max amount of people for this event is 12 people. We close the RSVP list on Mondays if there is a waitlist\, and if you can’t make it we do kindly ask that you change your status as soon as you know to give someone else a chance to attend. Those on the waitlist will receive a note on the day of the meetup letting them know if there is space or not. \nIf you sign up\, but do not attend\, you will be marked as a No Show.
