Brink Pitch Prep for SDAC is a weekly series of workshops hosted by The Brink SBDC at the University of San Diego (USD) to help entrepreneurs prepare to apply for the San Diego Angel Conference (SDAC) pitch competition. Workshop topics help founders develop, explore and refine the fundamentals required to prepare for angel investment.

The San Diego Angel Conference (SDAC), hosted by San Diego State University (SDSU), is a 3-month series of events to connect entrepreneurs with angel investors. SDAC activates angel investors who raise funds to invest in the winner of the pitch competition. Through a series of evaluations and pitch events, investors arrive at 6 finalists who pitch at the SDAC finale on May 29, 2026. SDAC application deadline is March 5, 2026.

San Diego AI Showcase (North County)
A Homebrew-style night for AI experiments and demos.

This is a monthly, in-person gathering for San Diego founders who are actively building with AI, and who are willing to show their work before it’s perfect.

Inspired by the original Homebrew Computer Club, where builders like Steve Wozniak casually shared what they were experimenting with, this is a space for real demos, early prototypes, bold ideas, and honest lessons. No polished pitch decks. No sales. No pressure.

This is about learning in public, helping each other think sharper, and accelerating progress through thoughtful feedback.

The San Diego AI Showcase is designed to grow a tight, curious, builder-driven founder community in the region.

What you’ll see

  • Early AI products, tools, agents, workflows, and experiments

  • Things that are half-working, just launched, or still a little rough

  • Lessons from what didn’t work (often the most valuable part)

  • Live demos, screen shares, short walkthroughs

Format

  • 5–10 founders present for ~10 minutes each

  • 3-minute Q&A and group discussion after every presentation

  • Hang out, meet other builders, and keep the conversation going

Who this is for

  • Founders actively building with AI (pre-seed to growth)

  • Engineers, designers, and product leaders experimenting hands-on

  • People who value curiosity, humility, and substance over hype

What this is not

  • Not a pitch night

  • Not an investor demo day

  • Not a sales event

Just builders helping builders.

Join us to explore the core principles that govern licensing and technology transfer within the biotech industry, including how academic inventions are evaluated, protected, and ultimately advanced through development and commercialization pathways

Our panelists will guide a conversation outlining the end-to-end technology transfer pathway – from invention disclosure and patenting decisions through license negotiation and post-license obligations, and discuss the key structures that shape these agreements. The session will emphasize practical considerations for early-stage teams seeking to align scientific development, institutional requirements, and future financing or partnering.

Panelists: Tali Tuchin, Marc Morley, and Paul Roben

Our panel will be followed by an unstructured networking hour from 7:00 – 8:00 pm.

We would like to thank Mintz for hosting this event!

Real civic problems. Real city data. One day to build something that matters.

Join us for Anthropic’s first Claude Impact Lab — a one-day hackathon where engineers build AI tools that solve real problems for the City of San Diego, using real city data!

San Diego generates massive amounts of public data — permitting records, parking systems, public safety incidents, short-term rental compliance, municipal code, council meeting transcripts. This data shapes how the city operates and how 1.4 million residents interact with their government. But most of it is locked behind clunky portals, buried in PDFs, or scattered across systems that don’t talk to each other.

Anthropic is providing API credits, swag, and prizes. City staff and domain experts will be in the room. The Claude Code team will be on hand. A panel of AI leaders and city officials will judge final demos.

***LAPTOP REQUIRED***
Please bring a laptop, we will be hands-on trying out AI tools. In order to participate you will need to have one in order to do things on your own.

AI Tool Time
The AI industry has been moving so rapidly that it is hard to keep up with all of the latest and greatest tools. This will be some set aside time to try out some new stuff and learn from what other people are able to try out in this time as well. We will have ~1 hour of play time and then gather back up to do 30-60 minutes of show and tell to see what people were able to do with the tools and get their feedback on them.

A curated, one-day builder lab hosted by Clinically AI for senior engineers and AI practitioners who want to build AI agents that solve real problems for patients.

We’re bringing together experienced builders for a day of focused work — designing and shipping autonomous agents that tackle meaningful challenges across the patient experience. If you’ve been building with LLMs and agents (or you’re deep in the stack and ready to start), you’ll be in good company. This is a highly curated event for experienced, technical builders.

Teams pick their own problem space. Here’s some inspiration:

  • Navigating insurance claims, billing, and prior authorizations
  • Finding and accessing the right care
  • Understanding diagnoses and treatment options
  • Managing chronic conditions day-to-day
  • Coordinating care across multiple providers
  • Making sense of lab results and medical records

Teams demo to a judging panel at the end of the day, then we eat and hang out. Teams or solo.

Why show up

  • Build next to people who are really good at this.
  • Prizes for top teams.
  • Connect with people in the space.
  • Build something that could go somewhere.

Attendance is limited and curated to keep the quality high. Demonstrated experience building with LLMs, agents, AI systems, or strong software engineering experience required.
