In celebration of 50 years of positive and lasting change, the David and Lucile Packard Foundation secured the talents of local creative agency, Visceral, to develop the Foundation’s latest website http://www.packard.org, along with an interactive timeline to showcase their everlasting impact over the last 50 years.
Visceral, a strategic, creative and technology company known for crafting digital interactive experiences for mission-driven organizations, immediately recognized the importance of going beyond just site maps and wireframes for this project, and channeled their strategic, creative and technological expertise in the development of the interactive and storytelling site.
“We set out to create a visually rich and immersive timeline that captures the Foundation’s rich history as philanthropic pioneers,” said Allen Hopper, Creative Director of Visceral who was involved in every aspect of the strategy and design phases, along with Technical Director, Jay Buys, Senior Developer, Kevin Freiberger and Production Director and Project Manager, Allegra Poggio.
Featuring 45 milestones, the timeline design is built around message and goals, and not only showcases key historical events but also utilizes the techniques of photo compositing and CSS transitions to create a visually appealing and interactive experience for the viewer. Both sites are not only responsive for desktop and mobile devices but the customized WordPress back-end, developed by Buys and Freiberger, is built in such a way that will allow the Foundation to easily expand and build upon the website and timeline as their achievements continue to grow.
