San Diego | Meet with NCI SBIR Director: Non-Dilutive Funding for Cancer

August 27 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

The Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program at the National Cancer Institute (NCI) provides $200 million to fund a diverse portfolio of small businesses that are developing and commercializing technologies to prevent, diagnose, and treat cancer. Over 4 phases of funding, a company can access up to $6.7 million for a single technology development project.

NCI SBIR Director Michael Weingarten and his team will provide a detailed overview on funding opportunities and other commercialization resources that cancer technology researchers can access as a catalyst to advance their projects. This presentation is appropriate for small businesses and researchers who are interested in translating their research from the lab to the market to bring their ideas to life.

Topics to be covered include:

•  New and current funding opportunities

•  Application tips and suggestions

•  Commercialization resources for applicants and awardees

•  Other initiatives such as a coaching program for new applicants, NCI SBIR Investor Initiatives, NCI SBIR Phase II Bridge Award, mentoring, and the NCI SBIR Economic Impact study will be covered.

Following the presentation, selected attendees will have a chance to meet one-on-one, in person with SBIR Director Michael Weingarten and SBIR Program Director William Bozza to discuss their cancer technology project and funding eligibility. To be considered for a one-on-one meeting, please complete the eligibility form here.
