Join us on Tuesday, August 20th at Snell & Wilmer’s Law Offices from 5:30-7:30pm for an exciting event delving into different startups’ humble beginnings. Details below. You will not want to miss out on this informative discussion with three impressive entrepreneurs!
Entrepreneurs come in all shapes and sizes and all walks of life. Three areas of origin that we see frequently at EvoNexus are those coming straight from a university, serial entrepreneurs, and entrepreneurs leaving a big company to start their own. At this program you will hear from all three. Our first example of direct from a university will be DeepWater Exploration. DeepWater Exploration entered EvoNexus as four engineers who had recently graduated from UCSD. They created a camera that was small, affordable, had low latency and could withstand pressure. Co-founder and COO Warren Chang will represent the company at this event.
Our next example is our serial entrepreneur, Dr. Alex Arrow. Dr. Arrow has been a part of three startups, two of which have been a part of the EvoNexus program. His most recent, Corramedical, was admitted in the second quarter of this year. Dr. Arrow and co-founder Wilfrido Mojica, MD bring together medical technology entrepreneur experience and two decades of clinical pathologist experience to this venture respectively. Corramedical is a local biomedical device startup resolving a growing clinical problem that affects all patients with a potential cancer diagnosis.
Our final example is a company that originated at Qualcomm, but left to build a company outside of it. Obsidian Sensors is actually a spin-out of Qualcomm to EvoNexus, creating low-cost thermal imaging products that have a wide-variety of use cases, including automotive, security, and drone. Obsidian co-founder and COO Dr. Tallis Chang will be representing the company.
Our moderator will be Eli Mansour, Partner at Snell & Wilmer, who spends a great deal of his time working with early-stage companies. Over the years, Eli has represented a number of EvoNexus startups.
