SUMMARY:Brian's Bday Potluck LAN Party at SDL HQ
DESCRIPTION:If you cannot make it at 1pm please post in the comments so we can plan around when people are arriving for games\, food etc. If you find you cannot make it PLEASE change your RSVP status so we’re not waiting for you to arrive. \nOur focus is PC gaming. However if we’ve got a light crowd we can make space for board games or retro console games like rock band etc. If the garage is full though we’ll be playing PC titles together. \nMake sure to have your steam account credentials available to log into when you arrive. As we use steam heavily to connect to each other via our steam group\nAlso suggest downloading and logging into the steam app on your mobile device before arriving for faster authentication.. Android / Apple \nAround 5pm we’ll be either ordering food\, or take a break to go get food individually. It’s not a bad idea to bring a couple of $5-10’s to be able to split the bill \nThe computers are already setup in the garage with the LAN games patched etc. Bringing your own rig is not necessary\, but we do have 6 BYOC spots in the middle if you do want to. \nEnter the garage through the side gate and through the fan door. \nGame’s well be likely to play:\nCall of duty 4 /MW 2 / World At War\nUnreal Tournament\nTitanFall R1D\nTribes Vengeance / Tribes 2\nBattlefield / Front 2\nTeam fortress 2\nBlur Racing\nFlatout 2 / Wrekfest\nHalo Online / Custom Edition / Wars\nJedi Knight: Jedi Academy\nThe Finals\nAlien Swarm Reactive Drop\nOverwatch\nLeft 4 Dead 2\nDeep Rock Galactic\nScorch3d \nThese games support at or around the numbers of players we’ll be hosting and we can help you install them if you’re bringing your own rigs. Otherwise the loaner PC’s have all these games ready to go and we encourage if they’re available to use them up first to keep install times down and game times up. We also need everyone’s help to play TOGETHER. the idea is we all play the same games throughout the day to be able to fill them up. Feel free to suggest other games assuming they can support the number of attendees in a single lobby and people don’t have to buy them. \nThank you!

SUMMARY:The Meeting Before the Meeting
DESCRIPTION:The Meeting Before the Meeting \nKnow exactly how to talk to an investor or a client before you ever sit down with them. \nMeeting prep is not research. It is understanding a person so completely that you know what they need to hear\, what they will push back on\, and what will make them say yes. You will walk out knowing exactly how to win the person you are going after\, whether that is an investor or a client. \nHow the morning works \nNinety minutes\, two people\, worked through together. \nBring a laptop and the names of one investor and one client you want. You will create a Frictionless account\, unlock full premium access\, and work on your own targets while we guide you. \nMario Corona takes the room through the investor first\, step by step\, while everyone follows along in their own account. Then Natalia Corona does the same for a client. You will work through fully understanding these people who matter to you\, allowing for a completely personalized experience. \nThe investor half \nWho they are. Check size\, background\, their own words\, what they post about. Whether you fit. Where you match\, what concerns them\, how they decide. What to say. Channel\, timing\, the message\, and what you have in common. \nThe client half \nThe company and the person. What they are doing right now\, and who this contact really is. How they decide. What evidence moves them\, what they control\, who else says yes. Walking in prepared. The story to tell\, what to never lead with\, their objections\, and rapport notes. \nWhat you leave with \nAn investor and a client fully understood before you walk out\, not a list of notes to do later. A whole month of full premium access on your own company. The method\, yours to keep\, so you can do this for every meeting that comes after. \nTwo ways in\, both worth more than they cost \n$99 — New to Frictionless. The workshop plus a month of full access\, a $200 value on its own. You save over $100\, and the premium access keeps working for a month. \n$25 — Already have an account? Workshop only\, for Frictionless founders. \nWant to learn more about Frictionless? Go to https://frictionlessintelligence.com/ \nThe details \nDate: Tuesday\, September 29\nTime: 9:00 to 10:30 AM\nWhere: Downtown Works\, Mission Valley\nBring: A laptop\, and one investor and one client in mind\nSeats: Limited. Small room on purpose\, so everyone gets help. \nHosted by Frictionless\, where execution meets capital. Venue partner Downtown Works. \n\n\n\nRefund policy\nRefund requests are allowed up to 24 hours before the event starts. Platform and processing fees aren’t included\, and the host has the option to decline.

SUMMARY:Shipping AI-generated code without your senior engineers becoming the gate
DESCRIPTION:Learn how to review AI-generated code for real risk — without turning your senior engineers into a full-time approval queue. \n\n\n\n\nAI made it easy to write more code. It didn’t make it easier to know which of that code is safe to ship\nand the cost has landed on the two or three engineers senior enough to catch what the tooling can’t.\nJorge Orenday\, a senior engineer who leads revenue at ArkusNexus and has spent recent years shipping AI-assisted code into production for paying customers\, walks through why review\, not code generation\, is where AI-assisted delivery actually breaks down. Two years of independent testing show why: syntax correctness in AI-generated code now exceeds 95 percent\, while the security pass rate across 150+ models has stayed flat between 45 and 55 percent. \nThis is a live build\, not a slide talk. Working against a real pull request\, Jorge builds a four-step review framework\, the Gate Map\, that any team can adopt without adding headcount. Bring your own backlog’s version of this problem for the closing Q&A. \nEvery attendee leaves with the Gate Map Worksheet\, a free one-page reference for your own backlog. \nBuilt for CTOs and VPs of Engineering at B2B SaaS companies scaling AI-assisted development – this is not a product demo. \nRegister above to save your seat – live\, September 29\, 10:00 AM PT.

SUMMARY:How Do You Ensure Quality of AI-Generated Code?
DESCRIPTION:Everyone is building software with AI these days. It works great if you building something small\, but what if you want to build something bigger? What if you want to release an actual product? How do you ensure quality of that application as it is built and evolves rapidly? \nI realized this was going to be the problem a couple years ago and built 50 Ants to solve it. It automates the testing process with agents and tests everything from the outside to help you build a true operational product. It tests functionality\, security\, performance\, AI safety\, and more than 24 dimensions.10

SUMMARY:AI Workshop | Practical AI for Small and Medium Business
DESCRIPTION:Practical AI for Small and Medium Business\nWhere does your business get stuck? \nEvery business has one thing that does not scale. The quotes\, the change orders\, the client handoffs\, the invoices. They end up waiting on one or two people\, and the business grows right up to whatever those people can absorb in a week. \nBusiness owners have been sold AI at least twice. Some of it genuinely saved time\, cut costs\, and improved the way work got done. Others created polished looking output while quietly adding more work\, more mistakes\, and more expense down the road. \nThis is a working session rather than a talk. Daniel Obodovski and Michael Job put questions to the room\, share what they have seen inside real companies\, and open it up for discussion throughout. \nYou will map one workflow from your own business onto a single page: what it is\, where it gets stuck\, who it is waiting on\, and what that costs you. That page is yours to keep. We will also put a few questions to the room\, answered anonymously on your phone\, with the results on the screen. Most people find that what they thought was their own private mess is the condition of every business in the room. \nYou will leave knowing how to: \n👉🏼 Identify one workflow in your own business where AI would move a number you already track\n👉🏼 Evaluate whether an AI solution is creating real improvement or simply the appearance of one\n👉🏼 Ask better questions before committing time\, money\, or resources \nNo technical background is needed. If you have never used AI you will not be behind. If you are already running it\, you will get a sharper read on where it is actually paying. \nNo vendor pitch. No product demo. No vague predictions about the future of work. \nLight bites provided. Places are limited\, because this only works as a conversation. \nFormat: 60 minutes\, 12:30 to 1:30\, with discussion throughout.

SUMMARY:What I Learned Turning My Life Into a Sitcom
DESCRIPTION:We all tell stories about our lives. About who we are\, what has happened to us\, what matters\, and where we think we’re going. \nBut what happens when you start telling those stories more intentionally? \nFor Philippe Lazaro\, that question became surprisingly literal when he decided to turn his own life into a sitcom. Along the way\, he began noticing something: the more actively he engaged with the story of his life\, the less passively he seemed to live it. \nThat insight followed him into his professional work as a storyteller\, where Philippe has spent more than a decade helping nonprofits and communities around the world tell stories about people\, places\, and social change. Again and again\, he saw how powerful it can be when people aren’t simply subjects of a story\, but are given the opportunity to tell and shape their own. \nAt this Big Idea Night\, Philippe will explore the relationship between storytelling\, agency\, and the way we experience our own lives. We’ll look at how the stories we tell about ourselves—and the stories others tell about us—can influence how we see ourselves and what’s possible next. \nAnd we’ll experiment with some playful ways of looking at our own narratives. If your life were a movie\, what kind would it be? What would you change about the next act? And what might happen if you stopped treating yourself as a passive character and started taking a little more ownership of the story? \n* * * \nVenue: Little Bird Brewing in North Park. \nDoors open at 6. Talk begins at 7. \nHelp support our host venue by arriving early to get a drink\, something to eat and meet fellow attendees. \nWe’ll have some interactive points of discussion out too. \n* * * \nAbout the Speaker \nPhilippe Lazaro is a strategic communications leader with over a decade of experience helping international nonprofits grow through ethical\, solutions-focused storytelling. He has told stories from Ethiopia to Haiti to Bangladesh and recently launched Banana Leaf Storytelling. He’s also an avid traveler\, illustrator\, improviser\, dad to three\, and a person with a few too many hobbies. \n\n\n\nRefund policy\nYou can cancel your paid ticket and get a refund up to 24 hours before the event starts. Refunds exclude platform and processing fees.

SUMMARY:What are Quantum computers and why should blockchains care?
DESCRIPTION:What quantum computers are\, why they break the maths behind Bitcoin\, and what is being done about it.\nQuantum computers are becoming useful devices rather than just research tools. Beyond modeling the real world\, they can speed up cryptographic calculations. Most notably\, reversing the encryption used by Bitcoin\, bank transfers\, and much of the web. Governments and banks already have a published plan for moving to quantum-safe cryptography. Bitcoin\, many chains\, and most exchanges have not yet published plans. The urgency has increased now that big public quantum companies are giving a roadmap for a break; IonQ is saying late 2028. Two problems need solving: migration to post-quantum addresses and the coins-left-behind problem. How will we handle Satoshi’s original coins? \nThis session explains what a quantum computer is and how it is different from the computers we use today. It shows\, in everyday terms\, why a large enough quantum computer could break the secret key that protects a Bitcoin\, something no ordinary computer could do in any realistic amount of time. It then gives a fair overview of the ideas the Bitcoin community is considering\, along with a quick survey of other chains\, followed by open discussion. \nNo background in physics\, cryptography\, or programming is needed. You will leave understanding the problem well enough to explain it to someone else\, knowing what options are on the table\, and knowing what\, if anything\, you should do today. \nSpeaker: James Tagg\, inventor with over 200 patents\, founder of Truphone\, and co-founder of the Penrose Institute. \nStreaming link: https://www.youtube.com/c/Edgewallet/streams \nHosted by Edge.app & QSAVE\, where James and his team are building post-quantum key protection for Bitcoin and other chains.

SUMMARY:VibeCraft Power Hour
DESCRIPTION:VibeCraft is a recurring\, collaborative working session where ideas turn into experiments and experiments turn into real builds. Each session is shaped by the group. We review what is emerging\, explore new directions\, and decide together what is worth building next. \nThis is not a presentation or a passive meetup. It is an active\, hands-on environment where members contribute ideas\, react to each other’s work\, and influence the direction of future sessions. Expect open discussion\, live demos\, shared whiteboards\, and practical exploration. \nSessions may include live walkthroughs of tools\, automations\, and AI agents\, discussions around product and company design\, rapid demos from members\, and breakdowns of different approaches to building with modern AI systems. Topics evolve over time\, but the focus remains the same: learning by doing\, building in public\, and exploring a high-tech\, high-touch future grounded in curiosity\, collaboration\, and thoughtful design. \nCome ready to participate\, share what you are building\, and help shape what we explore next as a VibeCraft community.

SUMMARY:PEER THERAPY x TEST PILOT - Focused conversations for Founders
DESCRIPTION:This is a weekly Wednesday gathering for founders and builders who want to stop talking about their challenges and start working through them—with real people\, real products\, and real feedback. \nPEER THERAPY is where you bring the challenge. Each week\, members are placed into topic-specific tables based on the problems\, questions\, or areas where they need the most help. Share what you’re working on\, get honest feedback\, exchange ideas\, and solve problems in real time with people who understand what it’s like to build. \nTEST FLIGHT is where you put the product to the test. Bring your digital product\, prototype\, website\, app\, or idea and get it in front of real founders and builders. Get beta testers\, collect genuine feedback\, generate authentic reviews\, and discover what works—and what doesn’t—before you put it in front of the wider market. \nTogether\, the two create a practical weekly feedback loop: bring your problems\, test your ideas\, help someone else\, and leave with momentum. \nThe goal is simple: build better things\, faster\, through consistent connection and real-world feedback.

SUMMARY:Chemical and Physical Processes Enabling the Transition from 2/2.5D to 3/3.5D Packaging
DESCRIPTION:A review will be presented on advanced packaging process engineering.  The following topic will be reviewed: (1) The differences between 2/2.5D (side by side chips) and 3/3.5 D packaging (stacked chips) drive the need for hybrid bonding which in which the chips are stacked by bonding both insulator to insulator and Cu to Cu with zero gap.  (2) Convention thermal compression bonding with Cu-solder-Cu bonds vs hybrid bonding with Cu-Cu and SiCN-SiCN bonds drives the need to control the surface chemistry on the nanoscale.  (3) Hybrid bonding greatly improves thermal management and AI efficiency by removing heat transfer barriers and reducing interconnect distance.  (4) Hybrid and fusion bonding (insulator-insulator) can be used for highly versatile heterogeneous integration for RF and silicon photonics.  Recent work from the literature and the Kummel lab will be presented on new materials and processes for heat management and stress/warpage control.  Finally\, the potential for negative coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) to control warpage in panel level packaging will be reviewed. \nThe schedule is as follows: \n4-4.30 pm – Networking \n4.30-6 pm – Lecture

Just another opportunity to interact with the best crowd of Defense Tech professionals in San Diego while celebrating a date on the calendar that only those in our world care about. \nWho attends: Aerospace & Defense tech founders · warfighters · defense and industry end-users · early-stage investors and financiers · technical builders & innovators. Basically\, the ecosystem that makes San Diego the best place in the world for defense tech development. \nThis is a free event. Beverages are on you\, and there are local restaurants in the strip mall to purchase some food. \nHelp us with headcount by registering in advance\, and we will have a fancy peel-and-stick name tag for you to facilitate networking.
