SUMMARY:PRESS EVENT for SD Film OUTSIDE the County Admin. Building
DESCRIPTION:Join film\, television and media professionals from across the region for a press event supporting the San Diego County Film Initiative ahead of the crucial Board of Supervisors vote on the future of filmmaking in San Diego. Learn how a County film office\, film commission\, and rebate program can create jobs\, attract productions\, support local businesses\, and help San Diego compete. \nEmceed by SD County Supervisor Paloma Aguirre and sponsored by sdcfilminitiative.com. \nHere’s the IATSE President’s letter: \nAs of yesterday\, Supervisor Aguirre’s office has officially submitted—and made public—a Board Letter initiating county-level work to establish a County-led Film Office\, Film Commission\, and incentive structure for filming in San Diego County.\nThis marks a major leap forward and represents the first step toward making the San Diego County Film Initiative a reality.\nThe attached Board Letter will be brought before the County Board of Supervisors on April 21\, sometime in the afternoon. During the meeting\, there will be an opportunity for public comment\, which we plan to attend and speak at\, followed by a vote on whether to move the initiative forward. Three of the five votes will be needed for approval\, and we are optimistic about a positive outcome. \nI am reaching out to ask if you would be interested and willing to submit an official letter of support as a leader within your business\, institution\, office\, or organization. To make this as easy as possible\, I’ve attached a template letter for your use\, though personalized letters are also very welcome and greatly appreciated. You can send the document with your letter head back to me as I am putting together a packet for the supervisors. \nAdditionally\, we will be holding a press conference on April 20 at 10:00 a.m.\, the day before the vote\, outside the County Administration Building—similar to the one we held last month—to highlight this important step for the region. If you’re interested in attending and/or speaking at the press conference or the Board meeting\, please let me know. If you would like to speak\, please email me directly\, as we are currently planning our presentations. \nI am deeply grateful for the incredible support this growing community has shown for this effort. Your advocacy has not gone unnoticed and is making a meaningful impact at a critical moment. Thank you all\, and I hope to see many of you next week.

SUMMARY:Breakfast with some San Diego Digital Designers
DESCRIPTION:Hello\, digital designers! Let’s get together again and welcome new (and familiar) faces in and around the SD digital design scene. \nThere are plenty of fancy design events\, this is meant to be a more casual\, personal\, and intimate meeting of designers. Introvert- and extrovert-friendly. Conversation\, not networking. \nPriority will be given to SDDD members (joining is easy — assuming you are in fact a digital designer in San Diego — and free at sddd.org). \nAgain\, this is totally casual. No agenda\, no presentation. Everyone pays for their own meal\, grabs a seat at the table\, and brings their friendly faces. Let’s chat about trends\, workplace issues\, design tools and approaches\, job opportunities\, and digital culture. \nHit up the chat here in Meetup — or in #events in Slack — with any questions at all. \nSee you there!

SUMMARY:Hussein's North County SD Startup Mixer - April 2026
DESCRIPTION:Hey\, it’s Hussein 👋 \nI’m the founder of Eventship and the host of The North County SD Startup Mixer. \nThis event kicked off my journey with Eventship (back when it was called Startup Beach) and has grown into one of San Diego’s most consistent and lively gatherings. Close to 200 founders\, investors\, builders\, and supporters show up each month\, and some amazing things have come out of it. \nHere’s what to expect: \n– A laid-back environment with smart\, ambitious people \n– Real conversations with no pitches\, no selling\, no presentations \n– Deals\, partnerships\, hires\, and new ventures often get started here \nStartups have launched from this mixer. Studios were born. Founders found investors. People landed new jobs and signed clients. All while having a great time. \nCome hang out and bring a friend. Just make sure they register so they can get matched using our attendee matchmaking tool. \nOne more thing… thanks to Isaac Pollock at Citizens Private Bank\, we’re also serving tacos but hurry up\, comped tacos run out fast! \nSee you there. \n– Hussein \nThis is a 21+ event.

SUMMARY:AI\, Data & Cloud: Real-World Transformation Stories on AWS
DESCRIPTION:Behind every health alert\, every customer call\, and every database migration is a simple goal—serve people better. These three talks show how AI and AWS make that possible at scale. \nTopic -1\nFrom Data to Compassion: Reimagining Digital Health on AWS\nDigital health is evolving from raw sensor data to meaningful human connection—and AWS is powering that shift. At Chronica\, we combine real-time device data with generative AI on AWS to turn signals into context—automating documentation\, surfacing risks\, and enabling timely\, personalized interventions. This approach improves patient outcomes\, reduces avoidable hospitalizations\, and drives measurable cost savings for Medicare. The result is less screen time for clinicians\, more human time with patients\, and care that feels truly connected. \nSpeaker: Ashraf Memon (Chief Technology Officer\, Chronica) \nBio: Ashraf Memon is a technology executive and digital health innovator with over 25 years of experience leading large-scale transformation across healthcare\, finance\, and AI-driven enterprises. He has built and scaled enterprise platforms across multiple states\, led global engineering teams of 100+ professionals\, and driven complex system integrations aligned with HIPAA\, ONC\, and SaMD standards. Ashraf specializes in cloud-native architecture\, interoperability (FHIR/HL7)\, and applying generative AI to solve real-world clinical and operational challenges. A published innovator and U.S. patent holder\, he is passionate about leveraging AWS to build scalable\, secure\, and intelligent systems that shape the future of digital health. \nTopic-2: One Agent\, Every Language: AI Translation in Modern Contact Centers\nReal-time AI-powered translation is redefining how contact centers engage with a global customer base. By enabling seamless\, bidirectional communication across languages within modern contact center platforms\, organizations can deliver consistent\, high-quality support without expanding multilingual staffing. This approach enhances customer experience while reducing dependency on costly third-party interpretation services. As businesses scale globally\, embedded AI translation becomes a critical enabler of efficiency\, accessibility\, and operational agility. \nSpeaker: Rajwinder Singh Makkar ( Sales ) \nBio Rajwinder Singh Makkar is a technology leader with over 20 years of experience helping organizations modernize through cloud\, AI\, and customer experience solutions. He works closely with enterprises and public sector clients to transform legacy systems into scalable\, high-impact platforms. His focus is on driving real business outcomes—whether that’s improving operations\, reducing costs\, or enhancing customer engagement. At his core\, he brings a strong blend of business understanding and technical execution to every initiative. \nTopic -3: Oracle Database Migrations and Modernization to AWS\nBusiness-critical Oracle database workloads demand uncompromising performance\, availability\, and resilience. Migrating these Oracle databases to AWS unlocks significant cost savings\, performance improvements\, enhanced availability\, and scalability opportunities. This session equips attendees with foundational knowledge and practical strategies to guide customers through Oracle workload migration journeys to AWS with information about AWS RDS for Oracle\, ODB@AWS etc. \nWhat you’ll learn:\n-Examine common migration challenges\, licensing optimization strategies\, and modernization pathways that help customers reduce total cost of ownership while improving operational resilience\n-Learn about emerging technologies—including AWS Generative AI tools and agentic AI capabilities—that simplify and accelerate Oracle database migrations to AWS\, enabling partners to capture commercial database opportunities effectively \nSpeaker:\nSudhir Balasubramanian\nSr Solution Architect \, WW Data & AI Partner – AWS \nBio: Data \, AI & Infrastructure Architect – Oracle ACE\, VMware vExpert\, Nutanix NCP – Speaker\, Blogger\, Author\, Technologist\, Evangelist\, Partner & Customer Advocate – love working with Customers & Partners to build creative solutions to solve complex problems & improve Customer experience. \nThis event is sponsored by ScaleCapacity

SUMMARY:VibeCraft Power Hour
DESCRIPTION:VibeCraft is a recurring\, collaborative working session where ideas turn into experiments and experiments turn into real builds. Each session is shaped by the group. We review what is emerging\, explore new directions\, and decide together what is worth building next. \nThis is not a presentation or a passive meetup. It is an active\, hands-on environment where members contribute ideas\, react to each other’s work\, and influence the direction of future sessions. Expect open discussion\, live demos\, shared whiteboards\, and practical exploration. \nSessions may include live walkthroughs of tools\, automations\, and AI agents\, discussions around product and company design\, rapid demos from members\, and breakdowns of different approaches to building with modern AI systems. Topics evolve over time\, but the focus remains the same: learning by doing\, building in public\, and exploring a high-tech\, high-touch future grounded in curiosity\, collaboration\, and thoughtful design. \nCome ready to participate\, share what you are building\, and help shape what we explore next as a VibeCraft community.
