SUMMARY:Diving deeper into software development discussions
DESCRIPTION:• What we’ll do\nCome join in discussions about Vim\, Emacs\, Linux\, Elixir\, Erlang\, OTP\, Lisp\, Haskell\, Ruby\, Javascript\, Functional Programming\, Object Oriented Programming\, Blockchain\, HashGraph\, Distributed Systems\, Decentralized Systems\, and whatever peaks your interest. \n• What to bring\nA laptop\, good questions\, exciting ideas\, an open mind and a positive attitude. \n• Where to meet\nMeet by the corn hole game in the back and look for others with laptops.\nAsk for others that are there for the software discussion group. \n• Alternate location\nSome nights the Rabbit Hole has live music. I was not able to pin down\nan exact schedule\, just sometimes we would show up and there would be a band but most times there was not. As an alternate location on live music nights the discussion group could be moved just down the street to Lestats coffee shop. They have great coffee and a nice atmosphere for hanging out and discussing software. \n• Important to know\nThis is a self organizing open discussion group that is meant to be organic\, with no main speaker or leader. It is just a time and a place for like minded people to come together to talk about software. \n• Background\nWhen I was staying in SD (Jan-Aug 2018) I was teaching software development at UCSD and the Meetup gave my cohort a space to dive further into topics that the curriculum did not allow time for. When the class was over and I went back to traveling full time\, I thought it would be an interesting experiment to leave the Meetup going and see if people would still gather to discuss software without someone to lead it. I liked the idea of a group that did not require some one to always lead it. A lot off Meetups I have been to before were always one or two people doing a lot of work to organize and put on talks but everyone else just shows up to consume and doesn’t really participate that much. Kinda like going to a movie\, in a way. The idea for this group is that it is what people make it. You get out of it what you put into it. It’s great that people are showing up still and I hope you have some great discussions. When I get back to San Diego (planning on a handful of times a year) and there is a meeting I will stop by and hang out and invite my cohort of previous students.

SUMMARY:Breakfast with some San Diego Digital Designers
DESCRIPTION:Hello\, digital designers! Let’s get together again and welcome new (and familiar) faces in and around the SD digital design scene. \nThere are plenty of fancy design events\, this is meant to be a more casual\, personal\, and intimate meeting of designers. Introvert- and extrovert-friendly. Conversation\, not networking. \nPriority will be given to SDDD members (joining is easy — assuming you are in fact a digital designer in San Diego — and free at sddd.org). \nAgain\, this is totally casual. No agenda\, no presentation. Everyone pays for their own meal\, grabs a seat at the table\, and brings their friendly faces. Let’s chat about trends\, workplace issues\, design tools and approaches\, job opportunities\, and digital culture. \nHit up the chat here in Meetup — or in #events in Slack — with any questions at all. \nSee you there!

SUMMARY:Modernize Everything: macOS Fleets & Databases on AWS
DESCRIPTION:Join us as we have 2 distinct topics for our meetup this time. \nOur first Topic abstract\nLearn the differences between physical\, virtual\, and cloud Macs like Amazon EC2 Mac\, how to best manage them with tools like Fleet\, and how to access remotely with apps like HP Anyware and Citrix VDA. Learn best practices around automation and configuration to dynamically scale your macOS fleet\, integrating directly into development pipelines to seamlessly build\, test\, sign\, and publish Apple apps. \nAbout Fleet\nFleet is an open endpoint management platform for macOS\, iOS\, Android\, Windows\, Linux\, ChromeOS\, and servers. Trusted by over 1\,300 organizations\, Fleet helps IT and Security teams gain granular visibility and control over devices to reduce tool sprawl\, automate workflows\, and enforce continuous compliance. By bringing infrastructure-as-code (IaC) practices to device management\, Fleet ensures endpoints remain secure and operational\, freeing engineering teams to focus on strategic initiatives. \nSpeaker bio\nDave Siederer has been a part of the Apple world for over two decades. These days\, he’s with Fleet\, helping folks manage their devices with open source technology. Prior to that\, he was AWS’ specialist in managing and deploying Amazon’s EC2 Mac instances\, and led SHI’s Apple technical practice for 12 years\, creating ZeroTouch to automate iOS deployment. Dave lives in Central NJ in a house with his wife and too many Macs. \nSecond Topic Abstract:\nBusiness-critical database workloads—including Oracle\, SQL Server\, and other commercial databases—demand uncompromising performance\, availability\, and resilience. Migrating these commercial databases to AWS unlocks significant cost savings\, performance improvements\, enhanced availability\, and scalability opportunities. This session equips AWS Partners with foundational knowledge and practical strategies to guide customers through Oracle and SQL Server migration journeys. \nWhat you’ll learn:\nExamine common migration challenges\, licensing optimization strategies\, and modernization pathways that help customers reduce total cost of ownership while improving operational resilience\nLearn about emerging technologies—including AWS Generative AI tools and agentic AI capabilities—that simplify and accelerate database migrations to AWS\, enabling partners to capture commercial database opportunities effectively \nSpeaker:\nSudhir Balasubramanian\nSr Solution Architect \, WW Data & AI Partner – AWS \nData \, AI & Infrastructure Architect – Oracle ACE\, VMware vExpert\, Nutanix NCP – Speaker\, Blogger\, Author\, Technologist\, Evangelist\, Partner & Customer Advocate – love working with Customers & Partners to build creative solutions to solve complex problems & improve Customer experience. \nThis meetup is sponsored by Fleet

SUMMARY:VibeCraft Power Hour
DESCRIPTION:VibeCraft is a recurring\, collaborative working session where ideas turn into experiments and experiments turn into real builds. Each session is shaped by the group. We review what is emerging\, explore new directions\, and decide together what is worth building next. \nThis is not a presentation or a passive meetup. It is an active\, hands-on environment where members contribute ideas\, react to each other’s work\, and influence the direction of future sessions. Expect open discussion\, live demos\, shared whiteboards\, and practical exploration. \nSessions may include live walkthroughs of tools\, automations\, and AI agents\, discussions around product and company design\, rapid demos from members\, and breakdowns of different approaches to building with modern AI systems. Topics evolve over time\, but the focus remains the same: learning by doing\, building in public\, and exploring a high-tech\, high-touch future grounded in curiosity\, collaboration\, and thoughtful design. \nCome ready to participate\, share what you are building\, and help shape what we explore next as a VibeCraft community.

Start engineering them out of existence.\nIn an era where digital threats have physical consequences\, traditional “bolt-on” security is no longer enough. We invite you to a session on Cyber-Informed Engineering (CIE)—the framework developed to integrate security directly into the engineering design lifecycle. (pre-cursor to a more intensive option at the Level Zero Conference).\nThis isn’t just a lecture; it’s a toolkit handover.
