SUMMARY:In-N-Out Cookout + Open House
DESCRIPTION:Open House + In-N-Out Cookout Friday\, January 30 · 12:30 PM\nJoin us for a casual open house at our facility—with a complimentary In-N-Out Burger cookout on site. \nWe’re opening the doors to show how we design\, prototype\, and build real hardware products\, from early concept through functional prototypes and production-ready systems. Whether you’re a founder\, engineer\, product leader\, or operator\, this is a chance to see behind the scenes\, meet the team\, and connect with others building physical products.\n\nWhat to expect: \n\nFree\, made-to-order In-N-Out burgers (on us)\nWalkthroughs of our lab\, shop\, and prototype builds\nInformal networking with engineers\, founders\, and operators\nNo presentations\, no sales pitch—just good people\, good food\, and real hardware\n\nWhy come?\n\nBecause it’s rare to see how products are actually built—and even rarer to do it over an In-N-Out burger.\nSpots are limited to keep it relaxed and conversational.\nCome hungry. Leave inspired.

SUMMARY:Diving deeper into software development discussions
DESCRIPTION:• What we’ll do\nCome join in discussions about Vim\, Emacs\, Linux\, Elixir\, Erlang\, OTP\, Lisp\, Haskell\, Ruby\, Javascript\, Functional Programming\, Object Oriented Programming\, Blockchain\, HashGraph\, Distributed Systems\, Decentralized Systems\, and whatever peaks your interest. \n• What to bring\nA laptop\, good questions\, exciting ideas\, an open mind and a positive attitude. \n• Where to meet\nMeet by the corn hole game in the back and look for others with laptops.\nAsk for others that are there for the software discussion group. \n• Alternate location\nSome nights the Rabbit Hole has live music. I was not able to pin down\nan exact schedule\, just sometimes we would show up and there would be a band but most times there was not. As an alternate location on live music nights the discussion group could be moved just down the street to Lestats coffee shop. They have great coffee and a nice atmosphere for hanging out and discussing software. \n• Important to know\nThis is a self organizing open discussion group that is meant to be organic\, with no main speaker or leader. It is just a time and a place for like minded people to come together to talk about software. \n• Background\nWhen I was staying in SD (Jan-Aug 2018) I was teaching software development at UCSD and the Meetup gave my cohort a space to dive further into topics that the curriculum did not allow time for. When the class was over and I went back to traveling full time\, I thought it would be an interesting experiment to leave the Meetup going and see if people would still gather to discuss software without someone to lead it. I liked the idea of a group that did not require some one to always lead it. A lot off Meetups I have been to before were always one or two people doing a lot of work to organize and put on talks but everyone else just shows up to consume and doesn’t really participate that much. Kinda like going to a movie\, in a way. The idea for this group is that it is what people make it. You get out of it what you put into it. It’s great that people are showing up still and I hope you have some great discussions. When I get back to San Diego (planning on a handful of times a year) and there is a meeting I will stop by and hang out and invite my cohort of previous students.

SUMMARY:Stop Prompting\, Start Architecting [A.I. Automation]
DESCRIPTION:The secret to prompting like a pro isn’t finding a “perfect” static prompt; it’s building a dynamic system that is adaptable and flexible\, yet still provides consistent and directed output. This is a collaborative workspace where we stop theorizing and start building. No slides\, no long-winded intros. Just a group of us solving problems in real-time. \nIn this session\, we’re focusing on Architecting Dynamic Prompt Systems. We’re moving past one-off instructions and into logic-based prompts that adapt to context while maintaining a rock-solid voice and structure. \nThe Workflow: Build\, Solve\, Share\nWe’re here to tackle real bottlenecks. We’ll pick a challenge\, break down the logic\, and refine the solution as a collective. \n\nCrowdsource the Problem: We’ll select a friction point from the room to solve live.\nArchitect the Solution: Watch and contribute as we map out the variables\, constraints\, and “chain of thought” logic needed to win.\nLive Debugging: When the output drifts or the formatting breaks\, we’ll patch the logic together.\nOpen Exchange: We’ll share the resulting frameworks so everyone walks away with a functional\, battle-tested tool.\n\nWhat We’re Leveling Up \n\nVariable-Based Logic: Creating prompts that adapt their behavior based on specific inputs.\nStructural Engineering: Moving beyond “Write a post” to executing complex\, multi-step cognitive tasks.\nThe Feedback Loop: Identifying exactly where a prompt fails and how to tighten the guardrails.\n\nExamples to Consider \nHere are a few complex scenarios we can dismantle and rebuild during the session: \nOption 1: The “Context-Shifting” Challenge \n\nThe Problem: You need to take one long-form article and turn it into a LinkedIn post\, a pithy Twitter thread\, and a punchy email teaser—all in one go\, without the AI losing your specific brand voice.\nThe Dynamic Goal: Build a system that recognizes the format requested and automatically adjusts the sentence length\, emoji density\, and CTA style accordingly.\n\nOption 2: The “Data-to-Narrative” Challenge \n\nThe Problem: You have raw notes or a transcript from a meeting. You want a summary that isn’t just a list of bullet points\, but a narrative that highlights only the action items relevant to a specific department (e.g.\, Marketing vs. Product).\nThe Dynamic Goal: Create a “Lens” prompt where the output changes completely based on which “Department Variable” you plug in.\n\nOption 3: The “Anti-AI” Style Guide \n\nThe Problem: Every time you ask for a blog post\, the AI uses words like “tapestry\,” “delve\,” and “unleash.” You’re tired of manually deleting them.\nThe Dynamic Goal: Build a “Negative Constraint Logic” block that doesn’t just ban words\, but replaces them with specific\, preferred alternatives based on the topic.\n\n🛠️ Come Ready \nThis is a “sleeves up” environment. Bring that one task that AI keeps messing up—the tone drift\, the formatting nightmare\, or the repetitive manual work you’re tired of doing. If you can describe your process\, you can build a system for it.
