SUMMARY:Mix\, Connect & Overcome is a Founder's Mixer and Fireside Chat
DESCRIPTION:Attention Founders — this one’s for you. \nIf you’ve ever felt like you were one bad quarter\, one missed deadline\, or one impossible problem away from losing everything you built\, you need to be in this room. \nMix\, Connect & Overcome is a Founder’s Mixer and Fireside Chat bringing together founders\, entrepreneurs\, and like minded individuals for an evening of real conversation\, genuine connection\, and the kind of insight you only get from someone who has actually been on the brink. \nThe evening opens with an hour of freestyle networking. Meet other founders in your community\, share your story\, and build relationships that actually move the needle. Then we sit down for a candid\, unscripted fireside conversation designed around one question: how do you keep going when everything is working against you? \nOur featured guest is Alex Treiner — 3x founder\, startup veteran\, and author of Sherlock DNA: A Startup Saga\, a fiction novel based on real events that took place at Illumina. \nCome for the networking. Stay for the conversation. Leave with something you can actually use. \nAgenda:\n6:00 PM — Networking Mixer\n7:00 PM — Fireside Chat with Alex Treiner\n7:30 PM — Open Q&A\n7:45 PM — Networking \nAlex’s story is not a highlight reel. It’s an H1B visa with no safety net. A first company that went bankrupt. A nine-and-a-half-month sprint alongside a tight-knit team to pull a company back from the brink of extinction. Readers who lived through it with him called the book an“unbelievable startup drama” and “a ridiculously engaging read” — one even said they’d love to see it as a Netflix documentary. But tonight isn’t about the book. It’s about the lessons inside it\, told live and unfiltered\, in response to the questions founders are actually asking. \nPurchase Sherlock DNA: A Startup Sage 👉 https://www.amazon.com/Sherlock-DNA-Startup-Alex-Treiner/dp/B0GB3KVL83/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8\n\nBook experience hosted by Rose Bowlus Law\, APC\n \nRose Bowlus Law is a boutique firm serving startups\, entrepreneurs\, and growing companies across industries. The firm supports clients through key stages of growth\, offering legal insight across corporate\, securities\, commodities\, and financial services matters. \nCA Attorney Advertisement\nRancho Santa Fe\, CA

SUMMARY:Data and Privacy in the Age of AI | Virtual
DESCRIPTION:A free\, public workshop—no technical background needed\nMost of us already know that companies\, governments\, and apps collect a lot of data about us. That part isn’t new. \nWhat is new is what AI makes possible with that data.\nFor years\, the privacy conversation has mostly been about tracking\, ads\, data brokers\, social media\, and surveillance. Those concerns still matter. But advanced AI changes the picture: once powerful models can analyze huge amounts of text\, images\, location data\, purchases\, messages\, and online behavior at scale\, the value of personal data goes way up—and so do the risks.\nThis workshop will look at how the data and privacy landscape worked before AI\, and what may change now that sophisticated AI systems can search\, summarize\, infer\, predict\, and act on massive amounts of personal information. \nTogether\, we’ll explore questions like: \n\nSurveillance: How could AI make it easier to monitor people\, identify patterns\, and draw conclusions from huge amounts of data?\nIncentives: Why might companies and governments have stronger reasons than ever to collect\, store\, and analyze personal information?\nAdvertising & persuasion: How could AI make targeted advertising\, political messaging\, and behavioral manipulation more personalized and more effective?\nScams & attacks: What happens when bad actors can use AI to personalize fraud\, phishing\, impersonation\, and social engineering at scale?\n\nWhat you’ll get: \n\nA clear\, beginner-friendly overview of how data privacy worked before modern AI\nA practical explanation of why AI changes the value and danger of personal data\nReal examples of how AI is already being used in surveillance\, advertising\, and persuasion\nA live demo showing how today’s tools can be used to launch sophisticated scams and attacks at scale\nA framework for thinking more clearly about privacy\, power\, and trust in a world where data is easier than ever to analyze\n\nThis is not a workshop about deleting every app or becoming paranoid about technology. It’s about understanding the new reality we’re entering.\nAI doesn’t just make data more useful. It makes data more actionable. And that means the privacy choices we make—as individuals\, companies\, and societies—are going to matter a lot more than they used to.

SUMMARY:Vibe Coding: Moving to Cursor and Version Control
DESCRIPTION:Browser-based tools like Claude\, Bolt\, and Lovable are great for getting started. But as your project grows\, you will hit their limits. You need to work across multiple files\, keep track of changes\, and have more control over your project structure. That is where Cursor comes in. \nThis session walks you through the transition from browser tools to Cursor\, a code editor with AI built in. You will also learn the basics of version control with Git so you never lose your work and can always undo a mistake. \nIf the idea of a “code editor” sounds intimidating\, do not worry. You do not need to understand the code. You need to know where things are and how to tell the AI what to change. \nWhat You Will Learn \n•      Why and when to move to Cursor. The signs that you have outgrown browser tools and what you gain by switching. \n•      Setting up Cursor. Installation\, opening a project\, and getting oriented in the interface. We will demystify the file tree\, the terminal\, and the editor. \n•      Getting your code out of browser tools. How to export your project from Claude\, Bolt\, Lovable\, or Replit into a folder Cursor can work with. \n•      How Cursor’s AI works differently. In browser tools the AI sees your conversation. In Cursor it sees your files. You will learn how to prompt effectively in this new context. \n•      Basic version control with Git. Commit\, revert\, and branch. Just enough so you can save your progress\, undo mistakes\, and never lose work. \nWhat You Will Walk Away With \n•      Cursor installed and working on your laptop with your project loaded. \n•      Your first successful edit made through Cursor’s AI. \n•      A basic Git workflow you can use going forward. \nPre-Session Setup (Required) \nThis session requires some setup before we start. You will receive a checklist 48 hours before the session with instructions for installing Cursor and Git on your machine. Please complete the setup before arriving so we can dive straight into working. \nPrerequisites \nThis session assumes you have some experience building with AI coding tools. You will get the most out of it if: \n•      You have a working project built with a browser-based AI coding tool. \n•      You are comfortable prompting an AI to build and modify features. \n•      You have completed the pre-session setup checklist. \nWhat to Bring \n•      A laptop with a browser (all tools we use are web-based) \n•      A project you are working on or want to start \n•      A laptop with Cursor and Git installed (setup checklist will be sent in advance) \nPart of the From Prototype to Product Series \nThis is Session 1 of 10 in the Vibe Coding: From Prototype to Product workshop series. Each session stands alone\, but the full series is designed as a progression from first build to finished product. \nFull series ticket holders get access to all 10 sessions\, weekly lab sessions for live troubleshooting\, recordings of every session\, and Founder Guide community access. Full series: $480 (10 sessions for the price of 8). Visit the series page for details. \nAlready have a series ticket? Enter your promo code at checkout to register for free. \nAbout the Facilitator \nTodd Bashor is the founder of Founder Guide and has 25 years of experience building and scaling software products at ServiceNow\, FICO\, and Intuit. He co-founded NewRocket in 2017 and led it through hypergrowth to acquisition in 2022. He now works with early-stage founders on product validation\, traction\, and go-to-market strategy. \nTodd has been coding with AI for over two years and has mentored multiple non-technical founders through building their first MVPs with vibe coding tools.

SUMMARY:The Group (North Park) - San Diego's Best Non-Networking Networking Event
DESCRIPTION:June An is the visionary founder of The Group\, a community born from the triumphs and trials of his own entrepreneurial journey. As a seasoned entrepreneur\, June understands the personal and professional challenges that can often feel overwhelming. His journey has taken him through moments of helplessness and hopelessness\, which fueled his passion to create a space where others don’t have to navigate these challenges alone. \n\n\nInspired by his experiences\, June founded The Group with a clear mission: to empower individuals to overcome obstacles and pursue their dreams with renewed hope and determination. The Group is more than just a community; it’s a place where dreams are nurtured\, resilience is strengthened\, and people come together to achieve their full potential—both personally and professionally. \n\nLet The Group inspire you to live your dreams with purpose and confidence.\nhttps://www.thegroupcoastal.com/

SUMMARY:Diving deeper into software development discussions
DESCRIPTION:• What we’ll do\nCome join in discussions about Vim\, Emacs\, Linux\, Elixir\, Erlang\, OTP\, Lisp\, Haskell\, Ruby\, Javascript\, Functional Programming\, Object Oriented Programming\, Blockchain\, HashGraph\, Distributed Systems\, Decentralized Systems\, and whatever peaks your interest. \n• What to bring\nA laptop\, good questions\, exciting ideas\, an open mind and a positive attitude. \n• Where to meet\nMeet by the corn hole game in the back and look for others with laptops.\nAsk for others that are there for the software discussion group. \n• Alternate location\nSome nights the Rabbit Hole has live music. I was not able to pin down\nan exact schedule\, just sometimes we would show up and there would be a band but most times there was not. As an alternate location on live music nights the discussion group could be moved just down the street to Lestats coffee shop. They have great coffee and a nice atmosphere for hanging out and discussing software. \n• Important to know\nThis is a self organizing open discussion group that is meant to be organic\, with no main speaker or leader. It is just a time and a place for like minded people to come together to talk about software. \n• Background\nWhen I was staying in SD (Jan-Aug 2018) I was teaching software development at UCSD and the Meetup gave my cohort a space to dive further into topics that the curriculum did not allow time for. When the class was over and I went back to traveling full time\, I thought it would be an interesting experiment to leave the Meetup going and see if people would still gather to discuss software without someone to lead it. I liked the idea of a group that did not require some one to always lead it. A lot off Meetups I have been to before were always one or two people doing a lot of work to organize and put on talks but everyone else just shows up to consume and doesn’t really participate that much. Kinda like going to a movie\, in a way. The idea for this group is that it is what people make it. You get out of it what you put into it. It’s great that people are showing up still and I hope you have some great discussions. When I get back to San Diego (planning on a handful of times a year) and there is a meeting I will stop by and hang out and invite my cohort of previous students.

SUMMARY:Main Conference 2026: Morse Code
DESCRIPTION:”Morse Code” is an invitation to explore how meaning emerges from the signals that shape our lives. Inspired by the historic communication system in which simple dots and dashes can unlock entire messages\, this theme celebrates the human instinct to decode—to search for patterns\, connections\, and direction within fragments of information. The act of decoding: whether in science\, technology\, storytelling\, or human experience\, allows us to uncover insights that might otherwise remain unseen. \nJoin us for inspiring talks that uncover meaning within the signals around us! SUMMARY:Bright Business Accelerator powered by Aquillius Institute - Discovery Meeting
DESCRIPTION:The Conductor’s Call: Transition from Scientist to CEO \nJoin us every fourth Friday (11:00 AM – 12:30 PM) at the Aquillius Institute. \nMost accelerators promise speed. Bright Business Accelerator promises control. \nIn the heart of San Diego\, a new kind of community is forming. We aren’t here to teach you how to “pitch for pennies” or follow the high-pressure\, equity-stripping models of traditional accelerators. We are here to help you build a scalable Business Operating System (BOS) that functions whether you are in the room or not. \nThe Vision: From Technical Expert to Business Orchestrator \nIf you are a scientist\, an IT specialist\, or a traditional business owner\, you possess deep technical excellence. However\, being the “smartest person in the lab” often leads to the Technician’s Trap—where you are the most exhausted person in your own company. \nThe Bright Business Accelerator\, powered by Aquillius\, is designed to move you from the orchestra pit to the conductor’s podium. You don’t need to be a professional accountant or a veteran attorney; you need to know how to orchestrate them to build a business that is documented\, designable\, and delegable. \nWhy We Are Different \nWhile other programs focus on “the hustle\,” we focus on Engine Engineering. \n• No “Pitching for Investors” Focus: We don’t just prepare you to ask for money. We prepare you to control the growth process and the negotiation\, so when you do meet investors\, you speak from a position of systemic strength\, not desperation. \n• Hands-On Evaluation: We skip the “high-level” fluff. We go deep into the critical aspects that increase your Business Valuation and founder confidence. \n• The BBOS™ Curriculum: Over 10 weeks starting this September\, we install a cohesive operating system covering: \n1. Inner Leadership: Upgrading the “Driver” (you) to handle the “Vehicle” (the business). \n2. Expert Integration: Each session features a “Crew” of vetted professionals—from Business Attorneys and CPAs to Marketing Strategists—who teach you the hard skills needed to delegate with precision. \n3. The 55 Pitch: Mastering the 5-slide\, 5-minute clarity that opens doors with partners and customers alike. \n4. Bright Accountability System™ \nJoin the Pre-Launch Community (April – August) \nBefore our formal 10-week cohort rolls out in September\, we are opening our doors for in-person discovery meetings. These 90-minute sessions are designed to build a pragmatic ecosystem of technology experts\, scientists\, fractional executives\, and sponsors. \nAre you ready to stop “grinding” and start building? \nWhether you have a groundbreaking lab discovery or a traditional business looking for a modern edge\, come share your feedback and join a community that values pragmatism over hype. \nNext Meeting: Fourth Friday of the Month \nTime: 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM \nLocation: Aquillius Institute \nBuild the system. Own the growth. Join the Crew.
