DESCRIPTION:We are continuing our Study group online for the time being.\nWe are now meeting online in the San Diego Python Discord server! Here is the link to join: https://discord.gg/8GpWuVvdbQ\nThere is a “meetup” voice/video channel that we will be using! \nWe may start meeting in person soon! This will be discussed at the meetup. We are considering having some online\, some in-person. Decisions\, decisions! \nEvery Saturday we meet up with the larger Python community (including San Diego PyLadies (https://www.meetup.com/sd-pyladies)\, Open BioInformatics San Diego (https://www.meetup.com/Open-Bioinformatics-SanDiego/) and San Diego Artificial Intelligence (https://www.meetup.com/SanDiegoAI/)) to chat\, learn\, and hang out. \nOur study group is for everyone on their Python journey\, whether you’re just starting out\, an experienced pro\, or anywhere in between. There’s no formal instruction\, just a bunch of folks who like to code. Sometimes we talk about a specific subject\, sometimes answer questions\, whatever! \nPython Community Code of Conduct (http://www.pythonsd.org/coc): Python is much more than a software language. Python is a vibrant community made up of members from around the globe with a diverse set of skills\, personalities\, and experiences. It is through these differences that our community experiences great successes and continued growth. Overall\, we’re good to each other. We contribute to this community not because we have to\, but because we want to.

SUMMARY:Backland Builder Lab - Healthcare
DESCRIPTION:A curated\, one-day builder lab hosted by Clinically AI for senior engineers and AI practitioners who want to build AI agents that solve real problems for patients. \nWe’re bringing together experienced builders for a day of focused work — designing and shipping autonomous agents that tackle meaningful challenges across the patient experience. If you’ve been building with LLMs and agents (or you’re deep in the stack and ready to start)\, you’ll be in good company. This is a highly curated event for experienced\, technical builders. \nTeams pick their own problem space. Here’s some inspiration: \n\nNavigating insurance claims\, billing\, and prior authorizations\nFinding and accessing the right care\nUnderstanding diagnoses and treatment options\nManaging chronic conditions day-to-day\nCoordinating care across multiple providers\nMaking sense of lab results and medical records\n\nTeams demo to a judging panel at the end of the day\, then we eat and hang out. Teams or solo. \nWhy show up \n\nBuild next to people who are really good at this.\nPrizes for top teams.\nConnect with people in the space.\nBuild something that could go somewhere.\n\nAttendance is limited and curated to keep the quality high. Demonstrated experience building with LLMs\, agents\, AI systems\, or strong software engineering experience required.

SUMMARY:AI Tool Time: Trying the Latest AI Tools
DESCRIPTION:***LAPTOP REQUIRED***\nPlease bring a laptop\, we will be hands-on trying out AI tools. In order to participate you will need to have one in order to do things on your own. \nAI Tool Time\nThe AI industry has been moving so rapidly that it is hard to keep up with all of the latest and greatest tools. This will be some set aside time to try out some new stuff and learn from what other people are able to try out in this time as well. We will have ~1 hour of play time and then gather back up to do 30-60 minutes of show and tell to see what people were able to do with the tools and get their feedback on them. \nhttps://docs.google.com/document/d/1pF7wTL8gH9oWFG2ldKN_aDe_1UBsdfV5NsgPdPqo3QY/edit?usp=sharing \nAgenda: \n\n12:00 – 1:00 pm — Try out some tools\n1-2 pm — Show and tell\n\nLinks to notes/slides and videos of prior meetups are available on the SDML GitHub repo https://github.com/SanDiegoMachineLearning/ \nLocation:\nWe are meeting at Aquillius in Rancho Bernardo. \nPlease Note: There are two steps required to join the online meetup: \n\nYou must go to our Slack community and ask for the password for the meeting. Link to join is below.\nYou must have a Zoom login in order to join the event. A free Zoom account will work. If you get an error message joining the Zoom\, please login to your account on the Zoom website then try again.\nUse this Zoom link: https://us06web.zoom.us/j/82891977558\n\nCommunity:\nJoin our slack channel for questions and discussion about what’s new in ML:\nhttps://join.slack.com/t/sdmachinelearning/shared_invite/zt-33z4811de-F_YKuCsQH1ev3TLSnQQfgQ

SUMMARY:Diving deeper into software development discussions
DESCRIPTION:• What we’ll do\nCome join in discussions about Vim\, Emacs\, Linux\, Elixir\, Erlang\, OTP\, Lisp\, Haskell\, Ruby\, Javascript\, Functional Programming\, Object Oriented Programming\, Blockchain\, HashGraph\, Distributed Systems\, Decentralized Systems\, and whatever peaks your interest. \n• What to bring\nA laptop\, good questions\, exciting ideas\, an open mind and a positive attitude. \n• Where to meet\nMeet by the corn hole game in the back and look for others with laptops.\nAsk for others that are there for the software discussion group. \n• Alternate location\nSome nights the Rabbit Hole has live music. I was not able to pin down\nan exact schedule\, just sometimes we would show up and there would be a band but most times there was not. As an alternate location on live music nights the discussion group could be moved just down the street to Lestats coffee shop. They have great coffee and a nice atmosphere for hanging out and discussing software. \n• Important to know\nThis is a self organizing open discussion group that is meant to be organic\, with no main speaker or leader. It is just a time and a place for like minded people to come together to talk about software. \n• Background\nWhen I was staying in SD (Jan-Aug 2018) I was teaching software development at UCSD and the Meetup gave my cohort a space to dive further into topics that the curriculum did not allow time for. When the class was over and I went back to traveling full time\, I thought it would be an interesting experiment to leave the Meetup going and see if people would still gather to discuss software without someone to lead it. I liked the idea of a group that did not require some one to always lead it. A lot off Meetups I have been to before were always one or two people doing a lot of work to organize and put on talks but everyone else just shows up to consume and doesn’t really participate that much. Kinda like going to a movie\, in a way. The idea for this group is that it is what people make it. You get out of it what you put into it. It’s great that people are showing up still and I hope you have some great discussions. When I get back to San Diego (planning on a handful of times a year) and there is a meeting I will stop by and hang out and invite my cohort of previous students.

SUMMARY:Molts & Malts - Hosted by San Diego AI Circle
DESCRIPTION:Join builders from OpenClaw weekend to enjoy some post-building API’s IPA’s. \nSan Diego AI Circle is a curated group of highly technical builders working at the edge of deep learning and agentic systems. We meet in person to share what we’re building\, trade notes on the latest advancements\, and learn from / collaborate with other serious practitioners. \nAs AI tooling accelerates\, small teams can increasingly outpace large organizations by shipping focused\, niche products quickly. Meanwhile\, much of San Diego’s best technical talent is distributed across large companies\, labs\, and teams—so finding the right collaborators can be difficult. \nThis Circle exists to solve that: a central hub for builders to learn from each other\, get high-quality feedback\, and meet potential collaborators and cofounders. \nWho it’s for\nEngineers and researchers building with DL/LLMs/agents (or shipping ML products) in their domain.\nFounders and technical leaders applying AI to real use cases.\nPeople who bring projects\, experiments\, challenges\, and learnings (not just ideas). \nWhat to expect at our Cowork:\nProject shares + technical discussion.\nCollaboration / cowork-style build time (demos\, debugging\, and challenges).\nA curated\, high-signal room.
